Although I studied art in college, I did not discover clay until much later in life. A lifelong love of textiles, graphic design, and color eventually led me to the joy of pottery design. Inspired by the coastal landscape that surrounds me—vibrant wildflowers, shifting ocean light, windblown grasses, and shore birds—I use clay as a canvas for layered surface design. Through hand-cut paper, glazes, and sgraffito, I build texture, color, and depth, allowing each piece to evolve organically. While I am drawn to structure and pattern, I embrace the surprises that emerge during the making process, creating work that reflects both intention and spontaneity.
